The Löffelstelz castle ruin, also known as Dürrmenz Castle, is situated above Enzstraße in Mühlacker-Dürrmenz. This former hilltop castle was once the seat of the Lords of Dürrmenz.

History+

The origins of Löffelstelz Castle date back to the early 13th century, when it was built as a residence for the Lords of Dürrmenz. In 1482, the castle changed hands and was sold to Maulbronn Monastery. A fire in the 16th century destroyed the already uninhabited complex, after which it was demolished. The ruin gained a final strategic importance at the end of the 17th century when Baden troops used it as a base against French forces during the War of the Palatine Succession.
