Löffelstelz Castle

The Löffelstelz ruin, also known as Dürrmenz Castle, is the ruin of a hilltop castle at 280 m above sea level above Enzstraße in Dürrmenz, a district of Mühlacker in the Enz district in Baden-Württemberg.

The castle was built at the beginning of the 13th century and was the residence of the Lords of Dürrmenz. It was sold to Maulbronn Monastery in 1482. In the 16th century, the already vacant castle burned down and was subsequently demolished. At the end of the 17th century, the castle, as a ruin, gained strategic importance for a single time when it was used by Baden troops in the War of the Palatine Succession as a base against the French. Remains of the residential tower and the walls have been preserved from the castle. The castle ruin was named "Monument of the Month May 2008" by the Baden-Württemberg Monument Foundation.
