The remains of the castle can be visited

Little is known about the history of this castle. It is possible that a prehistoric hillfort was located on its site. It is mentioned that as early as 1169, Count Albert von Stain handed over the site to Zwettl Abbey. Ludwig von Marchartstorf is named as the first lord of the castle in 1276.
