Nagelsberg Castle
Nagelsberg Castle is the ruin of a hilltop castle at 247 m above sea level near the Nagelsberg district of the city of Künzelsau in the Hohenlohe district (Baden-Württemberg).
The castle was presumably built in the 13th century, first documented in 1282 as property of the Lords of Stein, gifted in 1290 by the last of the Steins to Comburg Monastery, and belonged to the Diocese of Mainz from 1330. In 1492, the diocese occupied the castle with an official. In 1803, the castle was sold to a bourgeois family as part of the secularization. In 1822, the keep collapsed.
The former small castle complex today houses only new buildings and is completely integrated into the village. It can be reached via a stone bridge built over the former neck ditch, behind which are the gate with an old coat of arms above the opening and a newly rebuilt tower stump. Furthermore, many wall remains and the foundations of the keep can still be found.
