The castle ruin Neu-Baumburg, also known as Neu-Bamberg, is located in the municipality of Neu-Bamberg in Rhineland-Palatinate.

History+

The origins of Neu-Baumburg Castle date back to 1253, when it was built by the Raugraves. In the same year, the first documentary mention as “Novum castrum apud Sarlesheim” can be found. By 1283, the complex was owned by Raugrave Heinrich II of Neuenbaumburg. Half of the castle and the associated village was pledged by the Raugraves to Archbishop Heinrich III of Mainz in 1338 for 1,300 pounds Heller.
