Neu-Bolanden Castle

The construction of Neu-Bolanden Castle was undertaken in the 13th century by the imperial ministerials of Bolanden, with its first documented mentions between 1258 and 1262. In the 14th century, divisions of inheritance led to conflicts over shares of the complex. In the mid-14th century, Neu-Bolanden was granted as a fief to the Electoral Palatinate. Later, it came into the possession of the Counts of Nassau-Weilburg and underwent expansion at the beginning of the 15th century. During the Peasants' War in 1525, the castle was plundered and subsequently set on fire.
