The castle ruin Neu-Dettingen, also known as "Kargegg", is a lowland castle on the southwestern shore of Lake Überlingen, near the Konstanz district of Dettingen. Its history dates back to the late 12th century.
History+
The castle was built towards the end of the 12th century by the Lords of Dettingen, a family that also included the minnesinger Heinrich von Tettingen. The use of the complex ended before the year 1350, when it was abandoned. Later, the castle came into the possession of the Mainau Commandery of the Teutonic Order. Neu-Dettingen once formed a double castle with another complex. After excavations in 2012, it was also determined that the ruin located on site is indeed Neu-Dettingen, while Alt-Dettingen is yet to be located.

Parts of the polygonal curtain wall and the ruin of the residential tower are still preserved.
