Near the village of Scheel in the municipality of Lindlar is the castle ruin of Neuenberg, a medieval hilltop castle. Located in the Oberbergischer Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia, it once served as a border fortress.

The origins of Neuenberg Castle date back to the 12th century, as suggested by architectural findings. Its first documented mention appears in 1433. The castle was owned by the Counts of Berg and belonged to their domain properties.
