Neusummerau Castle
Near Neukirch-Summerau in the Bodenseekreis is the castle ruin Neusummerau, once a hilltop castle.
The construction of Neusummerau Castle is presumed to have taken place in the second half of the 13th century. It served as the ancestral seat for the Lords of Summerau before later coming into the possession of the Counts of Montfort-Tettnang. A prominent remnant of a corner wall was lost due to a landslide on the gravelly slope towards the Argen river. This also led to a rerouting of the path to Flunau.
The castle ruin Neusummerau is situated at an elevation of approximately 537 meters above sea level, east of the hamlet of Summerau in the municipality of Neukirch. It is located in the Bodenseekreis district, in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Today, only parts of the foundation of the former curtain wall remain of the original castle complex.
