Nürings Castle

The origins of Nürings Castle date back to the 11th century, when it was built by the noble Lords of Nürings. The Nüringer lineage died out around 1171/72. Later, the Lords of Bolanden took over the complex. In the 13th century, Philipp von Bolanden began to name himself after Falkenstein Castle on the Donnersberg. The Falkenstein line had the remains of Nürings Castle demolished and erected Neu-Falkenstein Castle in the same location, whose construction presumably began in the second half of the 13th century and was first documented in 1364.
