The Petrelë Castle Ruin, also known as Kalaja e Petrelës, stands on a rock in central Albania.

History+

The origins of Petrelë Castle date back to the time of Justinian I, with a tower already erected in the 6th century AD. Although the complex was founded in ancient times, the current structure mainly dates from the 15th century. The castle was an important part of the signaling and defense system of Kruja Castle. The castles communicated with each other by means of fires. During Skanderbeg's fight against the Ottomans, Petrelë Castle was under the command of his sister, Mamica Kastrioti.

The Petrelë Castle Ruin is located in Petrelë in the Tirana district, Tirana region, Albania. It stands at an elevation of approximately 353 m above sea level.
