The remains of the Castle can be visited

The name "Phlinsperc" is first mentioned in Ottokar of Styria's Rhyme Chronicle. Later, it appears in various spellings. The castle was built between 1250 and 1255 on behalf of the Archbishop of Salzburg, Philipp von Sponheim, who had occupied the Enns Valley as far as Rottenmann since 1248.
