Puchberg Castle Ruin, built at the start of the 13th century, is at an altitude of approximately 609 meters above the Sierning river in Puchberg am Schneeberg, Lower Austria. It is home to one of the oldest dated keeps in Lower Austria.

History+

Although historical records regarding the owners of the Puchberg dominion are sparse and often confused with a similarly named dominion on the Kamp river, Eberhard von Puchberg is confirmed as an owner in the 1260s. After 1357, the castle likely passed to the Stüchse von Trautmannsdorf, became princely in 1381, and after a brief possession by Johann von Liechtenstein, reverted to the sovereign in 1395. From 1500, the dominion appears in the records of Stixenstein. In 1549, Hans von Hoyos took possession.
