Raubschloss Liebenstein Castle

The origins of Liebenstein Castle likely date back to the 12th century. Archaeological findings suggest that the defensive complex existed on the steeply sloping mountain spur from the 12th to the 14th century. It is believed to have played a role in the colonization of the region and possibly served as a village-manorial seat. The name Raubschloss Liebenstein, coined by popular tradition, is recorded on later maps. The complex stretched approximately 90 meters in length and 25 meters in width. It was separated from the hinterland by two earth ditches and an earthen rampart.
