The Ravenstein castle ruin is the remnant of a spur castle on a 610 m above sea level high rock plateau northwest of Steinenkirch, a district of the municipality Böhmenkirch in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg.
In 1090, Albert and Berengar von Ravenstein had the castle built as a watchtower with wooden buildings. Later, Ravenstein Castle was expanded and replaced with stone structures. In the 17th or 18th century, the complex is said to have been converted into a palace. Some historical drawings give an idea of the former importance of Ravenstein Castle. Both Helfensteiner and Rechberger were owners of the castle. In 1765, the dilapidated buildings were demolished.

Of the former castle complex, only the horseshoe-shaped neck ditch is still clearly recognizable. This very deep ditch, carved into the rock, had secured the castle on the south and east sides against attackers from the Alb plateau. The castle stood above the Roggental on the Ravensteine, a rock formation now used as a climbing area from August to December. Ravenstein Castle was built without foundations on the bare rock floor, so no floor plan of the buildings is traceable anymore. A few small mounds covered with earth and moss, remnants of high defensive walls, can still be seen on the rock plateau, which is overgrown with stately beech stands. There are also holes that indicate cellars.
