Ried Castle

The remains of the Castle can be visited

Even before 1060, the Counts of Ebersberg, who served as bailiffs for the Diocese of Freising, expanded their dominion to Gablitz and Mauerbach. To protect these extensive possessions, Ried Castle was presumably built at the beginning of the 12th century. In 1211, it was held as a fief by Hadmar I von Kuenring.
