Ruppertsecken Castle

The first documented mention of Ruppertsecken Castle dates back to July 17, 1344, when it was owned by the Counts Palatine Ruprecht I and Ruprecht II. In 1401, the castle was pledged to Dieter Landschad von Steinach for 4600 gold florins, and just five years later, on March 30, 1406, it was sold to Johann von Worms for 3000 florins. Through an inheritance division in 1410, the castle passed to Duke Stephan of Palatinate-Simmern-Zweibrücken, before being transferred to Ludwig of Palatinate-Zweibrücken-Veldenz in 1444. An event was the 14-day siege by Count Palatine Friedrich I in October 1470, which led to the castle's plundering and demolition. Reconstruction was forbidden.
