The remains of the Castle can be visited

North above the town of Schramberg in the district of Rottweil, the castle ruin Schilteck stands as a testament to medieval defensive architecture. Once strategically positioned at the valley exit, it likely served to monitor the Schiltach valley and is now a freely accessible historical monument.

History+

Around the year 1200, the Dukes of Teck constructed Schilteck Castle. Its first documented mention occurred in 1225, when Hug the Elder was named as Lord of Schilteck. The Lords of Schilteck owned lands in the region and sold properties between 1271 and 1381.
