The remains of the castle can be visited

The Schintelburg has been documented since 1194 as being in the possession of the Counts of Sponheim-Ortenburg, although it probably existed for some time before that. In 1240, the Counts renounced the castle in favor of the Prince-Bishopric of Regensburg.
