Schmalenstein Castle

The castle "Schmalenstein" is a vanished moated castle between two arms of the Walzbach stream near a paper mill at the eastern end of Weingarten in the district of Karlsruhe in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was built in the 13th century by the Lords of Schmalenstein, mentioned in 1262, and destroyed in the 17th century. The former castle complex consisted of a rectangular core castle, which was completely surrounded by a rectangular defensive wall, of which only a few remains are preserved.
