The castle ruin Spitzenberg, a former hilltop castle, is located west of Kuchen in the Göppingen district.
History+
The Spitzenberger family, related to the Zähringers and the Counts of Helfenstein, named themselves after this castle. A representative was Bishop Gottfried von Spitzenberg. Although the castle is said to have been destroyed as early as 1311, findings from a 1913 excavation point to the late 14th century. The artifacts discovered during this excavation are largely lost, but some are housed in the Geislingen local history museum.

The ruin is situated on a southern elevation of the Fils Valley, the approximately 654-meter-high Spitzenberg, near the municipality of Kuchen in the Göppingen district, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Only a few wall remnants of Spitzenberg Castle remain. The remains of the ruin and the traces of the 1913 excavation are observable.
