History+

The first documented mention of Steinbach Castle dates back to 1278, when Otto der Steinpekch was named, considered the progenitor of a lineage that influenced the castle's fate for over 250 years. Duke Albrecht III transferred various fiefs to Heinrich Steinpkch, including Steinbach. Between 1455 and 1459, Siegmund Steinpekch owned the complex. In 1503, Magdalena, Christoph Steinpekch's daughter, sold the property to the brothers Wolf and Georg von Bergheim.
