Steinebach Castle
In a damp streambed of the Wied, the castle ruin of Steinebach is situated, a lowland castle in the Westerwaldkreis district of Rhineland-Palatinate.
History+
The origins of Steinebach Castle likely date back to the 12th century, when it possibly served as the ancestral seat of a local noble family, although this early dating is not definitively proven. Later, the small complex was owned by the Knights of Steinebach. They eventually mortgaged the castle to the Counts of Sayn before finally selling it to them. The castle did not play a significant role in the broader history of the region.

The most prominent surviving element is a stone archway, likely dating from the 14th century, which once formed the entrance to the castle. Additionally, some foundation walls of other buildings are still visible.
