Steinkallenfels Castle
The castle ruin Steinkallenfels, a former hilltop castle, is situated in Kallenfels, a district of Kirn. The first documented mention of the castle dates back to 1158. Originally, it was an imperial fief of the Lords of Stein, who later became known as the Lords of Steinkallenfels. From the 14th century onwards, it developed into a joint-heritage castle. By 1615, its condition was already described as dilapidated. Its ultimate fate was sealed by its demolition by French troops in 1682/84, after which it fell into ruin.
The castle ruin Steinkallenfels is located in Kirn-Kallenfels in the Bad Kreuznach district, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 281 meters above sea level.
The ruin can be visited today. The remains of the complex are clearly visible from the road.
