Stickelberg Castle
The castle seems to have been first mentioned in a document in 1259 in the will of Berthold von Treun, who bequeathed it to the regional prince. It was probably an illegally built castle. It belonged to the dominion of Steyersberg.
From the 13th to the 15th century, the castle was owned by the Lords of Stickelberg. In 1474, it was sold to Andreas and Ulrich von Weisspriach. They were followed by the Barons of Kobersdorf, then the Neidegger. In 1607, Stickelberg was owned by the Wurmbrand family.
The castle has been a ruin since 1810. It is still owned by the Wurmbrand-Stuppach family today.
