In the Tosters district of Feldkirch in Vorarlberg, Austria, rises the Tosters Castle Ruin, a hilltop castle.

History+

Around 1260, the Counts of Montfort had Tosters Castle built, which was subsequently inhabited by a branch of their family. Count Hugo VII took over the castle and the lordship of Tosters around 1331/32. During the Appenzell War, the complex was captured on November 25, 1405, by citizens of Feldkirch allied with the Appenzellers, and severely damaged by fire, with only the tower being spared. Reconstruction took place after 1408.
