The castle ruin Treuenfels, also known as Bernhardsschlösschen, is a spur castle that rises on a mountain spur south of the Altenbaumburg ruin. It is located in the municipality of Altenbaumburg in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland-Palatinate.

History+

The construction of Treuenfels Castle was approved in 1357 by Count Palatine Ruprecht II. Among the builders were Knight Diez von Wachenheim, the brothers Philipp and Heinrich von Montfort, Berthold called Stange von (Neu)-Bamberg, and the squire Johann Schweifkrusel von Partenheim. They received permission to build the castle on Lusebohel mountain. Eberhard von Lautern was appointed as a vassal, whose son later called himself Knight von Montfort.
