The Triberg Castle ruin sits on a mountain spur southeast of the town of the same name in the Black Forest. Its exact time of origin remains unknown.

History+

The first documented mention of the name Triberg dates back to 1239, when a Peter von Triberc appeared as a witness in a legal transaction. It is presumed that Burkhard I von Triberg had the spur castle built. Originally owned by the Lords of Hornberg, the dominion of Triberg passed to the Counts of Hohenberg after the extinction of the Triberg line. In 1355, Duke Albrecht II of Austria acquired the dominion, making it part of Further Austria.
