The castle ruin of Visoko, a medieval fortress, is located on an elevated position in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a royal castle town in the 14th century, it played an important role in the region's history.

The first documented mention of Visoko Castle occurred on September 1, 1355, in a charter by the young Ban Tvrtko I of Bosnia, where it was referred to as “in castro nosto Visoka vocatum”. The complex served not only for defense but was also a place where numerous medieval Bosnian rulers drafted important documents and charters.
