The remains of the Castle can be visited

Based on archaeological excavations from 2006 to 2009, it is assumed that the castle was built around 1200. It was first mentioned in a document in 1285. Wagrain belonged to the Lords of Goldegg, who held it as a fief of the Archbishopric of Salzburg.
