The castle ruin of Weferlingen, often simply called Weferlingen Castle, is a former moated castle in Saxony-Anhalt. Its keep, known as Grauer Harm or Grauer Hermann, characterizes the appearance of the complex, which today serves as an event venue.

History+

The origins of Weferlingen Castle likely date back to the 13th century, when it was built as a moated castle by the Lords of Hohenlage. In 1316, the castle fell to Duke Albrecht of Braunschweig, but later returned as a fief to the Hohenlage family. At the beginning of the 16th century, the complex came under the administration of the Bishop of Halberstadt and was converted into a palace. In the 17th century, the castle was owned by Prince Friedrich II of Hesse-Homburg. From 1717 onwards, the castle was no longer inhabited, later served as a granary, and was severely damaged by a fire at the end of 1929.
