Wessenberg Castle

In Mandach in the Aargau canton of Switzerland is the Wessenberg Castle Ruin, once the ancestral seat of the Lords of Wessenberg.
History+
Before the year 1207, the Lords of Wessenberg began constructing their ancestral castle. This structure, which measured about 9 meters in width and 40 meters in length, met its fate in 1468 when it was conquered by the Bernese. Following this conquest, the castle progressively deteriorated and became a ruin.

The Wessenberg Castle Ruin is located in Mandach in the Brugg district of the Aargau canton in Switzerland. It stands at an elevation of approximately 576 meters above sea level.

The remaining wall fragments of the castle ruin are now accessible to visitors and can be explored.
