The castle ruin Wieladingen, also known as Harpolinger Schloss, stands on a mountain spur above the Murg Valley. This site is in Rickenbach-Wieladingen, Baden-Württemberg.

History+

The origins of Wieladingen Castle date back to the 12th century, when it was constructed with ashlar blocks of Upper Bunter sandstone. Initially, it belonged to Säckingen Abbey. Around 1260, the castle was first mentioned in documents, at which time it was owned by the Lords of Wieladingen. A document from 1285, issued by Abbess Anna von Säckingen, specifically names Knight Ulrich von Wieladingen. In the 15th century, the decay of the complex began.
