The Wirsberg Castle Ruin, also known as Wirtesburg, is on a rock northwest of the confluence of the Koser and Schorgast rivers in the Upper Franconian market town of Wirsberg. This hilltop castle now stands as a ruin.
History+
The origins of Wirsberg Castle date back to around 1200, when it was built by the House of Andechs-Merania. It was first mentioned in a document in 1231. The complex suffered damage, particularly in 1554 and again during the Thirty Years' War. The Lords of Wirsberg are named as former owners.

The Wirsberg ruin is in the market town of Wirsberg in the district of Kulmbach in Bavaria, Germany. It stands at an elevation of approximately 377 meters above sea level.

Today, only remnants of the castle walls remain. The ruin is accessible to visitors.
