Wredenhagen Castle

First documented in 1284 as "Novum Castrum Wenden," the castle was built on a natural elevation, further raised by earth excavated from its moat, serving as a border and defensive stronghold. The complex featured a nearly circular ring wall made of fieldstones and bricks, with a single access point in the northwest. Inside, there was a round keep, as well as residential and economic buildings. The castle changed hands multiple times, including the Lords of Werle and, for a period, the Brandenburg margraves.
