Cabra Castle is an imposing estate in the southeast of County Cavan, Ireland, which today serves as a luxurious hotel. The castle was built on the foundations of an older fortification and shapes the landscape near Kingscourt.
History+
The origins of the current Cabra Castle date back to the early 19th century when it was built for the Foster family on the remnants of an earlier castle. Soon after its completion, the Fosters encountered financial difficulties and were forced to sell the estate to the Pratt family in 1813. In 1964, the Brennan family acquired the castle and converted it into a hotel. Today, the castle hotel is managed by the Corscadden family.
