The Castello di Bevilacqua is an impressive 14th-century castle, located in the municipality of Bevilacqua in the province of Verona. It is distinguished by its rich collection of frescoes, artworks, and sculptures and now serves as a versatile event venue.

History+

Construction of the Castello di Bevilacqua began in 1336 at the behest of Guglielmo I. Bevilacqua. Originally conceived as a defensive structure against the powerful Este and Carraresi families, the castle suffered its first attacks in the early 16th century and lost its military significance. Under the direction of architect Michele Sanmicheli, it was transformed into a noble residence in 1532. In 1848, the castle was set on fire by Austrian troops, but later rebuilt by Countess Felicita Bevilacqua. After her death, it became the property of the “Bevilacqua-La Masa” foundation and temporarily served as a retirement home. Occupied by German soldiers during World War II, it was then used as a kindergarten until 1966, before being destroyed by fire again. The Cerato family acquired the property in 1990 and initiated extensive restoration work, which brought the castle to its present state.
