History+
The origins of Castle Salem date back to the 14th century when it was built by the O'Donovan family. In 1470, the castle underwent a reconstruction by Catherine Fitzgerald, daughter of Thomas, the 8th Earl of Desmond, who was married to Finghin MacCarthy Reagh. After her death in 1506, the estate remained significant in the region. In 1660, ownership transferred to Captain William Morris, whose descendants inhabited the castle until the 19th century. Finally, the Daly family acquired the property in 1895.
