Castle Saunderson
The ruins of Castle Saunderson, once a family seat, are situated in the Irish landscape near Belturbet. The structure has a long history.
History+
The origins of Castle Saunderson date back to the 14th century, when it was known as Breffni Castle and inhabited by the O'Reillys of Breffni. In 1573, the castle came into the possession of the Saunderson family, who made it their ancestral home. The current structure dates from 1840. After centuries of family ownership, Captain Alexander Saunderson sold the estate in 1977 to a businessman who intended to use it as a residence. It later served as a hotel but was significantly damaged by fire.

Castle Saunderson is located in County Cavan (Chabháin) in the province of Ulster (Ulaidh) in Ireland, not far from the town of Belturbet. The ruin stands at an elevation of approximately 52 meters above sea level.
