Château Avenches
Das Schloss Avenches+
In der nordöstlichen Ecke der Altstadt steht das Château d' Avenches. Es wurde im 13. Jahrhundert als Burg erbaut und war zunächst Sitz des Kastlans, seit 1536 des von Bern eingesetzten Landvogts. Dieser liess von 1565 bis 1568 eine grundlegende Umgestaltung zum heutigen Renaissanceschloss vornehmen. Es besitzt eine reiche Innenausstattung und beherbergt heute die Stadtbibliothek.
