12th Century

The Château de Bavois was built in the 12th century and was owned by the Lords of Joux. In 1263, ownership transferred to Count Peter II of Savoy. The castle remained in the family's possession until 1747. In 1747, the Pillichody family of Unter-Bavois purchased the estate. In 1798, the castle was burned down and subsequently became state property. Today, it is once again in private ownership.
