The Château Borély, originally built in the 18th century for a merchant, now serves as a museum.
History+
The construction of Château Borély took place in the 18th century, commissioned by Louis Borély (1692-1768), a merchant from Marseille. In the 19th century, the estate became property of the city. For several years, it housed the archaeological museum. As part of the preparations for Marseille becoming the European Capital of Culture in 2013, plans were implemented to relocate the Faïence Museum from Château Pastré here. Furthermore, the castle was designated as the site for the Museum of Decorative Arts and Fashion.

The castle is situated in Marseille, a city in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France. It lies at an elevation of approximately 11 meters above sea level within the current Parc Borély.
