Château Branaire Ducru, a wine estate in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle in the Bordeaux region of France, was classified as a “Quatrième Grand Cru Classé” as early as 1855.

History+

The origins of the estate are linked to the neighboring Château Beychevelle, as it was once part of the Seigneurie de Lamarque. In 1680, Jean-Baptiste Braneyre acquired a portion of this property, which subsequently bore his name. Through the marriage of his daughter Marie to Pierre du Luc, the estate passed into the du Luc family. Laurent du Luc, their son, managed the estate from 1730 and, along with his wife Marie, survived the French Revolution, securing their property by changing their surname.
