Château Brane-Cantenac

Vineyard

Château Brane-Cantenac, a winery in Cantenac, a district of the Margaux commune, is known for its wines, which were already classified as Deuxième Cru Classé in 1855.

History+

The vineyard plots were long known under the name Gorce. In 1820, Baron de Brane acquired these lands and expanded them. To dedicate himself to the development of this property, he sold his Brane-Mouton estate to the Rothschild family in 1833. In 1843, he renamed the winery Brane-Cantenac. Since 1920, the Château has been owned by the Lurton family, who later also acquired Château Durfort-Vivens in Margaux. The current administrator is Henri Lurton, who took over the estate from his father Lucien in 1992.
