Château Cantenac Brown

Vineyard

Château Cantenac Brown, a Tudor-style castle, is located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. It is known for its current function as a winery, classified as a 3ième Grand Cru in 1855.

History+

The origins of the winery date back to 1754, when Jacques Boyd acquired vineyards and laid the foundation. In 1806, John-Lewis Brown, who had married into the Boyd family, took over the property. He renamed the largest part of the estate Château Cantenac-Brown and designed the Tudor-style building. After Brown's sale in 1843 to a banker, the castle changed hands again in 1860, passing to wine merchant Armand Lalande, who modernized the vineyards.
