Château Chardonne

Like many Vaudois properties, the Château de Chardonne passed into Bernese hands between the 15th and 16th centuries. However, it must be said to the credit of the Bernese bailiffs that they renovated and enlarged numerous domains of the Vaudois vineyards. This was also the case in Chardonne, under the rule of the Sturler, de Watteville and de Muralt families. The latter family remained owners of the castle until the 1930s. On May 30, 1933, Bernard de Muralt sold his vineyard to Emile Obrist (the castle itself was sold to Bundesbank AG in 1939).
