Château Colombier

Colombier was already mentioned in 987 and belonged to the territory of the Kings of Burgundy. Later, ownership passed to a noble family, which died out in the early 13th century. André de Colombier lived in 1220. In the course of the 13th century, the place belonged to the possession of Vullierens and a new Colombier family appeared - the Nobles Villars-le-Terroir, whose first known member was Girard de Colombier, who lived in 1281. This family inhabited a castle which has now completely disappeared. One of the most brilliant representatives was Heinrich de Colombier, also Lord of Vullierens and of the Castle of Vufflens. The Colombiers preserved the lordship with their name until the middle of the 16th century. Afterwards, ownership gradually changed to Alinges - to Nicolas von Joffrey, Lord de Dully, Crinsoz, Lords of Cottens, Lausanne, Harpe, etc..

Details are missing about the old fortified house of the Lords of Colombier until the end of the 15th century. It was more likely Jean Donnat who built the new castle around the year 1500 on the site of an old manor house. Of this new construction, only the lower part of the tower remains, which contains a spiral staircase and formed the entrance.
