History+
The castle's origins date back to the 13th century, as evidenced by a Latin inscription found in its underground galleries. The first known lord of Agassac was Guillaume-Raymond d'Agassac in 1172, who was also Lord of Blanquefort. From 1238, the Gaillard de Gassac family owned the seigniory of Agassac, which spanned over 800 hectares. In 1357, the seigniory was sold to the Albret family, with members such as Arnaud Amadieu I and Jean II of Albret residing there. From 1580 to 1841, the property belonged to the Pommiers family. In 1792, the first vines were planted, and a winery was established. Marcel Richier, an agricultural engineer, acquired the estate in 1841.
