Vineyard

In the commune of Cantenac on the Gironde in France, Château d'Angludet is located, known today as a wine estate. It is in the Margaux wine region.

History+

The origins of the estate date back at least to the 12th century, when it was owned by Chevalier Bernard d'Angludet and included a manor house. After changing hands several times, including the Donisan and Treulon families, it was confiscated in 1631 during the Wars of Religion. It later passed to Pierre du Mons, under whose aegis viticulture was established, and in the early 18th century, the wine fetched high prices. In 1776, Pierre Legas acquired the estate, which was then considered a fourth growth. After Legras' death in 1791, the property was divided among his four sons, leading to a decline in quality and d'Angludet no longer being mentioned in early classifications.
