History+

The origins of the castle date back to the 12th century, when it was constructed as a moated castle. From 1464 to 1691, it served as the seat of the Gondersdorf family, followed by the Barons du Prel, who owned the estate from 1691 to 1840. Subsequently, the castle came into ecclesiastical possession and temporarily served as a residence for Pastor Joseph Kalbersch, as well as a church. In 1882, the Dutch Keun family acquired the property, facilitating in return the construction of a new church, a rectory, and a cemetery. The castle remained largely in private hands until 1983, when it was purchased by the Luxembourgish state.
