History+

The first documented mention of Hollenfels Castle dates back to the year 1041. In this document, Isenbald von Holfels is named as the lord of the castle at that time. Since 1948, the complex has been owned by the Luxembourgish state.

Hollenfels Castle is located at an altitude of approximately 314 meters above sea level in the municipality of Hollenfels, in the Mersch district, in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Today, the Château d'Hollenfels houses a youth hostel and serves the Service National de Jeunesse as a center for youth leisure activities.
